Mosaic United: Strengthening the Future of Jewish Engagement

There’s no secret formula for Jewish engagement. Young Jews around the world are less affiliated with Jewish life and more distant from Israel than previous generations. They require a wide spectrum of experiences and educational opportunities from which to choose and be inspired. Appreciating the value of Jewish community, continuity and connectivity is dependent upon their continued engagement – throughout their formative years, rather than at specific flashpoints.

Mosaic United  is a partnership between the State of Israel and the global Jewish community dedicated to:

  • Mapping the broad spectrum of Jewish experiential opportunities

  • Strengthening each area of engagement

  • Increasing the number of meaningful interactions

  • Deepening the impact of Jewish experiences for millennials ages 12-35

Navigating the numerous wide-ranging approaches to Jewish engagement, Mosaic United acts as the ultimate amplifier, incubator, and connector for impactful and innovative Jewish organizations, educators and philanthropists around the world. By employing a “continuum strategy,” Mosaic United reaches young Jewish women and men at every key stage of life, empowering them to develop deeper connections to their Jewish heritage and identities and forge stronger bonds with Israel.

Making an Impact on Campus

Leveraging the support of the Israeli Government and international supporters, Mosaic United’s ‘Campus Pillar’ provides the three leading Jewish organizations on college campuses worldwide – Hillel International, Chabad on Campus International and Olami – with the tools, funding and benchmarks they need to increase the number of educational initiatives and immersive experiences they can offer to under-engaged university students to spotlight Jewish identity and connection to Israel.

Rebooting Tikkun Olam

Mosaic United has developed ‘Shalom Corps,’ an initiative in partnership with the Jewish Agency for Israel, and in collaboration with additional partners, that aims to dramatically increase the number of young Jews engaging in meaningful, ethical and sustainable service while exploring their Jewish identities.  Shalom Corps – Mosaic United’s ‘Service Pillar’ – makes Jewish service experiences more accessible to Jewish millennials while strengthening and broadening their reach and incorporating Jewish service learning authentically within the volunteer programming.  By allowing young Jewish participants to view their volunteer work through the lens of Jewish values, Shalom Corps strengthens both the service work and the identities of the volunteers themselves.

Growing the Continuum Strategy

Mosaic United is building an interconnected system of platforms to attract and facilitate every millennial demographic:

  • Teens

  • Post-college young professionals

  • Russian speakers

  • Israelis in the Diaspora

  • Leadership

  • Jewish summer camps

  • Digital network for Jewish life

Collaboration

Time and time again, it has been made clear that the Jewish people accomplish more when working together towards a common goal.  Today, an unprecedented number of top philanthropists, organizations, activists and educators are achieving amazing things on their own.  Our goal is to bring them all together to streamline their methods, multiply their impact, and create the ultimate Jewish engagement platform.

Flexibility

We all connect with our shard Jewish heritage in our own unique ways.  For some us, we enjoy the warmth of community and the richness of our culture. Others prefer the feeling of rootedness they experience by studying our core Jewish texts, exploring our traditions and developing a relationship with Israel.  We keep our fingers on the pulse, studying the ever-changing landscape and providing the necessary tools to support the wide range of approaches for nurturing Jewish connectivity.

Continuity

Everyone searches for meaning over the course of their life journeys.  Over time, a steady flow of positive and meaningful Jewish experiences impacts attitudes and life decisions in ways that singular experiences cannot.  We strive for continuous engagement, providing young Jewish men and women with opportunities for education, inspiration and connection throughout their formative years, rather than at specific flashpoints.

Innovation

The world is changing at breakneck speed, and it’s easy to get swept up in the excitement or lost in the shuffle.  To help young Jewish men and women stay grounded, and ensure that we remain relevant, we view every challenge as an opportunity to innovate, creating new Jewish engagement frameworks and tools that spotlight the value of Jewish community, continuity and connectivity.
