Summer Camps for Ukrainian Jews

May 8, 2025
Deadline:
May 8, 2025

In an ever-complicated world, with growing antisemitism and polarization, it is incumbent on us not to forget about the tens of thousands Jewish Ukrainians effected by the ongoing conflict. Sadly, this population continues to suffer from the displacement and distress of war. Through the Summer Camps, we seek to ensure that Jewish Ukrainians resettled or displaced from their homes can take part in enjoyable, restful, and meaningful Jewish experiences this summer.

We are proud to share that this initiative builds upon the success of the project over the past three years. Thanks to the hard work of our operating partners and the generosity of our funding partners and the Ministry of Diaspora Affairs and Combating Antisemitism, we have reached over 9,000 participants and supported approximately 130 camps.

To build on this work, we are issuing a new request for proposal through which Jewish camp operators can access financial support and resources for Jewish Ukrainian refugees as well as Jewish participants from Ukraine. While at camp, Jewish Ukrainian participants will be involved in enriching activities to strengthen their Jewish identities as well as their connections to Israel and the Jewish people.

We seek to serve Jewish refugees from Ukraine, as well as Jewish participants from Ukraine. Participants can include children, teens, young adults (18-25 years old), and their parents.

Organizations which qualify will receive funding and support.  They will be responsible for all aspects of delivering the experience including participant recruitment, staffing, and programming.

Tracks

Applications can be submitted for four different tracks of programming.

Qualifying programming will offer a fun, engaging, social, and educational experience which connects participants with their Jewish identities and Israel.

Ukrainian Jewish participants may be added into existing Jewish camps or participate in camps designated exclusively for them.

  • Day Camps: Typically for younger campers, day camps deliver quality children's programming during the day, and are usually located in urban centers.
  • Overnight Camps: Overnight residential camps and travel experiences usually take place over 7 to 14 days and are operated outside of urban centers. They often attract campers from across multiple regions or countries.
  • Family Camps: Family camps bring together multiple families for 7 to 14 days for Jewish educational programming and social activities. These camps are especially meaningful for families living in isolated regions away from Jewish population centers. Family camps create relationships between participants and Jewish organizations and professionals that are relevant to Jewish life year-round.
  • Weekend Retreats / Shabbatonim: Weekend retreats bring together participants for 1-3 nights of Jewish programming and social activities.

Funding

  1. Providers will receive full funding from Mosaic United per Jewish Ukrainian participant.
  2. A participant may not participate in more than one budgeted track.

  • Day Camp: $45 per day
  • Overnight Camp: $80 per day
